Comparing UK trainer sizes across brands

Knowing your usual trainer size helps, but the model and width matter too. Use an official chart as a starting point and keep track of shoes you have actually worn.

Keep the size system and audience

Write “UK 10, men’s” rather than only “10”. Men’s and women’s US labels can differ, and brands do not always map UK, US and EU labels in the same way. Unisex products may use a stated reference system.

Save the exact trainer model and width when possible. A comfortable running shoe and a narrow casual trainer can have the same printed size while feeling very different.

Foot length and a CM label are not interchangeable

A chart’s foot-length measurement describes a measurement of the foot. A CM or JP value printed on a shoe may be a sizing label with a different relationship to foot length. Read the chart heading and measurement instructions before comparing numbers.

Measure using the brand’s method and consider both feet. Allowance for movement, socks, shape and intended activity is product-specific; Mall Verse does not invent a universal allowance.

Use the exact product advice

Look for the retailer’s model-specific notes as well as the general size chart. Advice for one version of a trainer should not automatically become a rule for every shoe from that brand. Width and personal preference can explain apparently conflicting wearer reports.

Our chart-comparison pilot reviews a limited range of men’s UK 9–11 labels. Comparable foot-length rows from Nike and adidas can support a labelled chart estimate. We do not yet have the evidence needed to turn New Balance’s general length column into a cross-brand fit prediction.

From a guide to a shopping decision

Save your known shoe in My sizes with its model and how it fits. When browsing, open the recommendation to see whether it is a saved-label match, a limited chart estimate, or a request for more information.

Before buying, check the selected product version and width at the retailer. A feed’s available size label and a size chart are useful evidence, but neither guarantees comfort.
